Volunteers recognised at awards

Volunteers who have made a difference to their communities were recognised at the annual Mansfield Volunteer Awards ceremony.

Seven awards were given to acknowledge those who have given their time voluntarily; paid workers who have gone above and beyond within the voluntary sector; and businesses that have given unpaid support to the voluntary sector within the Mansfield district.

The awards took place at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex with guests from Mansfield District Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and many partner organisations.

Winners were:
Andrew Wallace Memorial Award — Bob Wyatt (presented by Pete Sutcliffe, Mansfield Awards Committee).
Vaughan Thomas Memorial Award — The Social and Fundraising Group, Mansfield Woodhouse Community Development Group (presented by Co Coun Joyce Bosnjak).
Young Persons Award — Oliver Chater (presented by Scarlett Sykes, Youth Mayor)
Voluntary Sector Paid Worker — Leanne ı, NIDAS (presented by Veronica Cooper, chair, MCVS Board).
Business in the Community Award — PPX Metal Management Limited (presented by John Bilzon, president Mansfield Rotary Club).
Margaret Wilson Award ­— Friends of Oaklands (presented by Coun Andy Burgin and Steve Lunn, chair of Oaklands). 
Outstanding Volunteer Award — Ann Sewell (presented by Andy Abrahams, Mansfield mayor).
