A Mansfield bingo club helped its oldest member celebrate her 101st birthday.

Lilian Meredith has been going to Apollo Bingo since it opened 23 years ago.

Despite her age, Lilian plays bingo there twice a week and was treated to a free session to mark her big day as well as balloons, flowers and a drink.

“I have been coming to Apollo Bingo ever since it opened,” she said.

“I love my bingo and enjoy coming here twice a week.

“My secret to long life has been lots of hard work and walking.”

Apollo Mansfield manager Francis Gillard added: “Lilian is one of our most popular members and we look forward to seeing her every Wednesday and Friday.

“She recently had a short illness which kept her away, but she was straight back to bingo once she felt better.

“Treating our oldest member to a free session is the least we can do.

“We look forward to helping her celebrate her 102nd birthday with us next year.
