Stepping out for 1,220-mile walking challenge

Posted onPosted on 2nd Mar

A former president of Mansfield Rotary Club has set herself a fundraising target to walk 1,220 miles in a year and raise £1,220 to be shared between Prostate Cancer UK and Mansfield Rotary Club.

Cate Hunt, 70, has already passed £300 and now needs further sponsorship to help her as she tackles the challenge until 30th June.

The 1220 challenge was originally set as a cycling fundraiser by Sherwood Forest Rotary Club but Cate decided to walk 1,220 miles in a year instead.

Cate, who walks up to 52 miles a week, said: “I love being outdoors and I love walking with people or by myself.”

She sometimes walks with her husband, Alan, and their spaniel, Bertie.

Cate previously featured in the News Journal when she cycled 120 miles in two days to attend the Rotary District Conference in Scarborough, raising money for three charities.
