Mansfield Town FC chairman John Radford has accepted the position of honorary president of Mansfield Harriers Athletics Club.
Mr Radford agreed to take up the role following an invitation by the athletics club’s committee.
Harriers has more than 250 members, aged from nine to 79. Acting chairman Pat Carlan said: “We’re very pleased that John has agreed to join us. His profile and standing within the community should help us develop further by increasing participation of athletics within Mansfield.”
John Radford added: “I consider it a privilege to become Mansfield Harriers’ honorary president. Participation in local sport is something which is close to my heart.
“I’d like to see many more young people in the local area engage in sport and establish a lasting network between Mansfield Town and the athletics club.”
