Ashfield District Council, in partnership with the Fred Perry Trust, is giving children in the
district the chance to take part in the new We Do Tennis programme.

Children, aged 6-11, can enjoy 10 weeks of free tennis sessions at Kingsway Park, Kirkby, where they can develop skills.

Sessions start on Sunday, 25th May, and will be led by qualified coaches, with all equipment provided.

Programme highlights include:
10 weeks of free, three-hour free sessions for Key Stage 1 and 2 children (ages 6-11) at the park and follow-up coaching when, after the initial 10 weeks, participants will have access to an additional 10 weeks of low-cost coaching.

Coun Helen-Ann Smith, deputy leader and executive lead for Parks and Environmental Services at the council, said: “We are passionate about creating opportunities for all children in Ashfield to enjoy sport,
build friendships and stay active.

“By partnering with the Fred Perry Trust, we are breaking down barriers and opening doors for every young person to try tennis and have fun along the way.”

The session schedule on Sunday, 25th May is:
9am-10am, 6 to 7 year-olds; 10am-11am, 8 to 9-year-olds; 11am-12noon, 10 to 11 year-olds.
