The Sherwood Observatory at Coxmoor Road, Sutton, is hosting its Sherwood Observatory Public Solar SUNday open event on Sunday, 1st September.

It will run from noon-4pm. Visitors can safely view the Sun through a variety of telescopes and learn about our nearest star.

Society member Gordon Smith will give a series of talks themed on the Sun. The new radio astronomy centre, run by Nigel Cunnington, will be open, enabling visitors to further understand the Sun, meteors and space weather.

The observatory’s proposal for on-site planetarium will be explained. Admission is adults £3, under-16s £1, and car parking is free.
