Sharon’s capital fundraising for cancer fund at MoonWalk

Posted onPosted on 9th May

Mansfield woman Sharon Bond aims to raise hundreds of pounds for charity by completing The MoonWalk London on Saturday.

She will be supporting breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, which organises the iconic event.

Sharon will join thousands of other fundraisers to walk 26.2 miles through the night, wearing a decorated bra to show her unity for the cause — raising awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer.

This year The MoonWalk London, in its 22nd year, has a disco theme. It has so far raised around £97m. Funds are granted to research into secondary cancers and supporting those with cancer, with the growing demands for emotional and physical support.

Sharon said: “I am doing the Moonwalk to raise funds to help women and men who develop breast cancer.

“I’m very grateful to my partner, Keith Wallace (On Your Doorstep Walks) for planning many different training routes for me.

“My bra is ‘blinged’ with fake gemstones, fake pearls, fairy lights, and fringing – it is a sight to behold!

“I expect the thousands of walkers will create a very special atmosphere to help everyone get over the finish line.”

Walkers will pass many iconic London landmarks, including The Coca-Cola London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, HMS Belfast and Buckingham Palace.
