Safety message to work placement students

Posted onPosted on 30th Jan

Edwinstowe-based AW Safety Management carried out a health and safety assembly at the Dukeries Academy, Ollerton.
The company shared some of its knowledge about workplace safety to sixth-form students before they head out to work experience placements.

A spokesman for the firm said: “With some students already employed in weekend jobs, it was interesting to see who did and didn’t receive inductions and health and safety talks prior to starting work.

“We encouraged students to stay safe by adopting our four golden rules of safety — be fit for work with no health issues; receive a briefing before starting work to understand the tasks, risks and rules; report all unsafe conditions to take care of yourself and others; and stop all activity if the workplace changes and becomes unsafe.”

AWSM offers work-placement awareness and combined risk assessment courses for staff and companies that plan to involve young people in their workplace and have not updated their own risk assessments or made any special provisions.
