Retiring after 44 years working at Mansfield primary school

Posted onPosted on 27th Jun

Senior midday supervisor Linda King is retiring from Ladybrook’s Flying High Academy after 44 years at the Mansfield school.

Starting as a cleaner in 1981, Linda soon became a midday supervisor and then took on her current role.

“I knew I would always work in a school because I love working with children,” she said.
“But it never occurred to me I would still be here over 44 years later! So much has changed over the years, but I am happy to have supported so many children from Ladybrook over all of those years. Leaving is going to be really hard. I will miss the children so much.”

Headteacher Kerry Chadburn added: “Linda has been at the heart of our school for so many years — her kindness, dedication, and unwavering support for children and staff have made a lasting impact.”

Sally Knowles, who works with Linda, said: “Linda always leaves you smiling after a chat or simply by being around her. She’s always the life and soul of any party or get-together. Every child in Ladybrook knows and still talks about Mrs King, including my own children.”

A celebration event to mark Linda’s retirement will take place at William IV pub, Mansfield, on 25th July, from noon until 5pm. It is open to colleagues and friends, past and present.
