A new coffee morning and community group that has been launched by Mansfield couple Lyndon and Barbara Shearman at the Salvation Army Church Centre on Victoria Street, Mansfield, runs every Wednesday, from 10.15am to noon, and is open to all.

Lyndon, 73, said: “We welcome anyone to drop in for a natter and a cup of tea or coffee.

“We popped into the Salvation Army and got talking.

“There had been a lot of talk about starting a community group in the area and we decided to do it.

“We want to provide something for people and try to help anyone who may feel isolated and on their own.”

The couple also help at a weekly friendship group that meets on Tuesday mornings in The Hive in the Four Seasons Shopping Centre, Mansfield.
