The new season at the Palace Theatre, Mansfield, is promising more than 50 shows in its spring and summer season.

There is music of many genres, including a sing-along, as well as drama, ballet, comedy, local talent and even a panto to entertain theatregoers from April through to July.

It all starts with Crooners, a new comedy music show with a touch of big band swing that plays tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Monro, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin and Nat King Cole, on Thursday, 4th April.

The laughs will keep on coming with Cannon and Ball (pictured) on Sunday, 14th April, while TV soap star, turned singer, turned West End headliner Jason Donovan brings his Amazing Midlife Crisis Show in May, with tales of Neighbours, Kylie, Joseph, Strictly, I’m A Celebrity and more.

Also in May, Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers promise sharp synchronisation, dramatic choreography and powerful rhythms on huge Taiko drums.

Fans of hit film Grease can relive the 70s favourite and the tales of Danny, Sandy and the gang in Singalonga Grease.

The classic film will be played on a giant screen with lyrics to sing and dance along to — and fancy dress is encouraged.
The golden era of music when the jukebox and rock ‘n’ roll ruled will be brought back through Lipstick On Your Collar in June.

More music from the past will see The Sixties Invasion, starring Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch, The Foundations and The Tornados in May.

As always, the theatre has a varied programme of tribute shows scheduled across all tastes.

Look out for Walk Right Back – The Everly Brothers Story, Someone Like You – The Adele Songbook, Some Guys Have All The Luck – The Rod Stewart Story, Rock n Roll Paradise, Totally Tina, Queens Of Rock, Greatest Hits Of Motown, Halfway To Paradise, Islands In The Stream, Bon Jovi Forever and Sounds Like The Seekers among others.

The Folk In The Studio programme continues with BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners Josie Duncan and Pablo Lafuente on Thursday, 11th April.

Other alternative music shows coming up next season include Black Dyke Band on Sunday, 28th April and the ever-popular Neil Sands matinee show, Sentimental Journey, on Wednesday, 22nd April.

Beyond The Barricade, the UK’s longest-running musical theatre concert tour, features past principal performers from Les Miserables, delivering the best of Broadway and the West End in May.

The annual Easter Panto, Peter Pan, stars Bobby Davro, Dani Harmer and Lloyd Warbey on Saturday, 13th April.

For younger theatregoers, Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom Live returns for four shows in May, while Sooty brings his Magic Show at the end of the May.

Northern Ballet presents Puss In Boots in June, while ballet fans may be interested in the Margot Fonteyn Centenary in May, which recreates highlights from her career in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and more.

Among the local productions are In The Heights by Expressions Academy of Performing Arts on Tuesday, 2nd and Wednesday, 3rd April; Jesus Christ Superstar by Heanor Musical Theatre Company from Thursday 25th to Saturday, 27th April; Seussical The Musical by New Youth Theatre in June and 9 To 5 The Musical by Ripley and Alfreton Musical Theatre Company in July.
