On the run to support school

Posted onPosted on 9th May

Staff and children from St Mary Magdalene C of E Primary School, Sutton, held a mini-marathon in aid of a state-of-the-art sensory room and a bike shelter at the school — raising more than £4,000.

Starting more than 200 school runners was Mansfield Town footballer Aaron Lewis, who was joined by hundreds of family members to cheer on the children.

More than 200 pupils and 15 staff members took part in the run, helped by Ashfield Fire Station creating a water misting area on what was a hot day.

Mansfield Town director and a trustee of the club’s Community Trust, Paul Brown, who was among those supporting the runners, said: “It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and energy from the pupils and staff, all united for a great cause.

“We’re proud to support initiatives like these that not only promote fitness and teamwork, but also raise vital funds for important projects.”

Headteacher Samantha Robinson thanked the children, their families, the football club, and firefighters.

“We will continue to put our efforts in to making our school and its facilities the very best for all of our pupils, and to remember the roles we can all take in supporting each other to reach our potential,” she added.
