Mansfield teenager Jamie Newton was among five Nottinghamshire medal winners at the 14th School Games National Finals.

The 15-year-old achieved bronze in wheelchair basketball as part of the England Pink boys’ team.

Jamie, who plays for Mansfield Maulers, starred at the multi-sport event for talented young athletes across the UK at Loughborough University.

Tokyo 2020 Olympians Holly Bradshaw and Alice Dearing took part in the open ceremony and judo Paralympian Chris Skelley visited wheelchair tennis athletes on the final day following his gold medal at Tokyo.

Nottinghamshire brought home a total of five medals, two golds and three bronzes, including Jamie’s medal.
