Mansfield funeral celebrant Wayne Swiffin is celebrating after being elected to the committee of the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC).

As the one and only registered trade association for celebrants in the UK, the AOIC is a “vibrant and forward-thinking trade association for professional celebrants across the UK and overseas”.
The AOIC recently held its AGM and conference, where the committee for the forthcoming year was elected to office.

Wayne, who lives in Mansfield, has been a journalist and PR consultant for more than 25 years, and became a celebrant only last year.

He said: “I haven’t been a celebrant for that long really, but my many years as a journalist and a PR consultant will hopefully come in useful to the committee and to the members of the association.

“Anyone who knows me well knows that I love being a PR consultant and a journalist but being a funeral celebrant is something really special. Helping people to tell stories of loved ones, particularly at a very tough time, is an honour and I am particularly proud to have led a number of services in and around the Mansfield area.”

AOIC Executive Chairman Philip Spicksley said: “We welcome Wayne to the committee, as we think his experience and knowledge could be a real asset to the association.”
