Mansfield events are back in 2022!

There is a lot to look forward to in Mansfield this year with the return of a full events programme – including the much-loved Christmas Lights Switch On.

Mansfield District Council, in conjunction with its partners, has a whole host of free events and activities planned for 2022 – all aimed at helping to put Mansfield district on the map as a vibrant place to live, work and visit.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to put dates in the diary now so they don’t miss out on celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Armed Forces Day and Christmas in Mansfield. Further information on each event will be posted on the council’s social media pages and on our event webpage (opens in new window) as details are confirmed.

The first big event of the year is a Cleaner, Greener Festival in the Market Place on Sunday 15 May. There will be a specialist vegan market with eco-friendly, holistic and spiritual demonstrations, entertainment, activities and tips.

Mansfield Summer Festival will be bigger and better than ever before, as it will take place over two days for the first time – on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 August at Titchfield Park. There will be live comedy acts and entertainment inside a marquee on the Thursday evening, followed by an all-day family festival with movies and entertainment on the Friday.

The fun continues on Wednesday 17 August as Carr Lane Park in Warsop once again hosts Mansfield Summer Festival with entertainment, stalls, live music, arena shows and much more.

On Saturday 3 September, The Full Shebang Festival returns to Mansfield. The town centre will be buzzing at the free one-day family festival presented by First Art. Enjoy knock-your-socks-off outdoor performances, events and more.

The summer is sure to finish on a real high as the Tour of Britain cycling race returns to the county once again on 8 September. Full details of the route will be announced next month.

The biggest event of the year will be the Christmas Lights Switch On, which is expected to attract thousands of people to Mansfield town centre on Sunday 27 November. Plans are underway for a stage show with live music, prizes and plenty of festive entertainment for all the family.

In addition to the main events, there will be a flower show, street entertainment and brass bands in the park – all aimed at making Mansfield a better and more enjoyable place to live and visit.

Executive Mayor of Mansfield Andy Abrahams said: “After everything we’ve missed out on over the past couple of years with family and friends, we are looking forward to being able to get together once again to have some fun.

“A lot of hard work by MDC and partners goes into planning a wide range of events suitable for all the family. This year we’re putting the local community, health and wellbeing and the environment at the heart of our events programme. With the exception of theatre events, they are all free and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.”

Jay Rowlinson, CEO of Mansfield BID, said: “The Mansfield BID is working closely with partners to attract more people into the town through the coming warmer months and leading up to the Christmas Market in November/December. There is a vast array of different events this year to suit all people and all age groups. These events will certainly increase footfall into the town and assist our hospitality, shops, and other businesses. After such a long period of Covid-19 affecting the town and its people in so many negative and difficult ways, the partnership of Mansfield District Council and Mansfield BID are doing their very best to bring the “feel good factor” back into our fabulous town. I really hope you enjoy the events we have planned and laid on for you this year.”
