Mansfield Building Society backs school

Posted onPosted on 12th Jan

Mansfield Building Society donated £1,250 to St Andrew’s Primary School, Sutton, to ensure disadvantaged pupils could have a happy Christmas.

Teachers aimed to create 50 care boxes for parents whose livelihoods have been affected by Covid-19. and had asked for donations to fill them.

Thanks to the society’s donation the school was able to ensure each box had enough food to cook a Christmas dinner as well as offering a Christmas Eve bag for the children and a follow-up food hamper in January.

Branch operations and member engagement manager Sian Moult said the society was proud to help.

“We’ve all heard and seen the effect the pandemic has had on families, which is why St Andrew’s wanted to help ease the hardship for struggling families,” she added.

“We’re very proud to have supported this project as we know what a difference these care packages will have made to local families.”

Amanda Williams, head teacher at St Andrew’s Primary School, said the donation made a difference.

“We’re very grateful to The Mansfield for this contribution because it means that 50 families received enough to provide a Christmas dinner and some small gifts for their children,” she said.

“It’s gestures like this that brought some festive cheer after what was a very difficult year for everyone.”
