Last year celebrities came together to help Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People create a video, called Busting The Myths, about children’s hospices.

It was among 400 videos submitted to the Charity Films Awards and the Rainbows submission has now been shortlisted.

More than 65,000 members of the public voted for their favourite film among the 400 and an overwhelming response meant Rainbows’ Busting The Myths will now go to the judge’s vote.

Famous faces, including Coronation Street actor Charlie De Melo, Strictly legend Len Goodman and former England footballer Stuart Pearce, teamed up with Rainbows to make the special film as part of the charity’s 25th birthday celebrations.

The hospice cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting illnesses across the East Midlands.
The video was a huge hit on social media, being liked on Facebook more than 1,000 people.

Jo Sims, head of family support at Rainbows, said: “A lot of hard work went into creating this film to dispel some of the misconceptions as to what a children’s hospice is actually like.

“We hear all sorts of myths about the hospice, and while, yes, we are always dealing with sensitive and sad situations, we always ensure our children, young people and their families create memories.

“It is about living life in the time they have left, whether that is hours or years. We aim to fulfil their wishes while providing the best care for the whole family.

“We are delighted to have been recognised for our work and fingers are crossed for the next round of judging.”
