The trust that runs Mansfield Community Hospital and King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, has been shortlisted for a major award.

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said it was delighted to be shortlisted for the prestigious Acute or Specialist Trust of the Year category at the Health Service Journal Awards, which recognise outstanding contribution to healthcare.

The trust has been selected based on its ambition, culture, visionary spirit and the demonstrable positive impact that it has on patient and staff experiences within the health and social care sector.

Over the last five years Sherwood Forest Hospitals has dramatically improved. In 2016 it was in special measures and was rated by the Care Quality Commission as inadequate for well-led, safety and overall. Just two years later, in July 2018, it was rated as outstanding for caring and good overall.

Chief executive Richard Mitchell said: “I am so proud of what my colleagues have achieved.”
