Grand refurbishment help at track

Posted onPosted on 16th Sep

Mansfield Building Society’s Community Support Scheme has made a £1,000 donation to Mansfield Harriers and Athletics Club to boost refurbishment plans for its facilities.

Based at Berry Hill Park, members of the Harriers have been working hard to refresh the site facilities.

Alongside the donation, two colleagues from the society volunteered at the club to help with painting.

Pat Carlan, chairman of Mansfield Harriers, said: “While the facilities belong to the club, we are aware there are no toilets available to the general public visiting the park.

“We understand this can cause upset to many people and we, therefore, allow people to use the clubs facilities. This has brought concerns that the extra footfall would cause further deterioration to the blocks already in need of maintenance.

“We were thrilled when Mansfield Building Society accepted our application and donated funds to refurbish our onsite facilities, not just for our members but for other park users too.”

Mandy Whitten, products coordinator at Mansfield Building Society, who is pictured with Pat, added: “ It was great to get involved and see where the Society’s donation is a making a difference.

“The race track and club are assets for the local area that are well worth supporting, and we’re looking forward to seeing it all develop further.”
