Forever Notts name change reflects foundation’s local focus

Posted onPosted on 17th Dec

A Mansfield-based organisation that has delivered more than £30m in grants since it was established in 1997 is changing its name.

Formerly Sherwood Coalfield Foundation and then more recently Nottinghamshire Community Foundation, it will now be called Forever Notts.

The name change is part of its renewed committment to ensure that donations made in Nottinghamshire to help people and projects stay in the county — and to encourage local business and others to contiue to support its work.

More than 3,000 Nottinghamshire groups across the county have applied for a grant over the past 27 years.

Chief executive Nina Dauban emphasised the importance of the local focus, saying: “Forever Notts stands committed to Mansfield and its vibrant community.

“We’ve seen the power of local donations transforming lives, and we’re determined to keep Nottinghamshire’s funds benefiting Nottinghamshire’s people.”

Forever Notts said it wants to build stronger communities by encouraging local giving, with all money raised supporting non-profit, grassroots community groups.

Among the projects it supported last year was Rhubarb Farm’s Rewild with Rhubarb programme in Langwith, a nature-inspired art therapy group that enabled volunteers and community members to take part in artistic, eco-therapeutic, and creative activities, promoting good mental health.

Berry Hill United, a grassroots football club providing free football opportunities for underprivileged children in Mansfield, was also helped, while Rainworth’s Social Action Hub and its community foodshare initiative received support.

In the past two years the foundation has supported more than 30 community projectsacross the Mansfield area.

Forever Notts manages more than 50 donor funds, tailoring contributions to ensure every donor’s vision achieves maximum impact.

By offering bespoke options, including named trusts and lifetime legacies, the organisation said it empowers individuals, families, and businesses to leave a meaningful mark on their communities.
