The Rotary Club of Sutton-in-Ashfield has donated £2,500 to foodbanks, charities, and community groups from its 2025 Community Action Fund.

Thirteen organisations based in and around the town received grants, which range from £50 to £250.

President Karen Alderton said: “We were very pleased to be able to support so many local organisations from this year’s Community Action Fund.

“These groups do so much good work in the community, it was really important for us to help support them financially.”

Organisations supported were: Teversal Visitors Centre, Huthwaite Colts FC, Bikers Against Child Abuse, Mary’s Foodbank, Sutton Centre Under-5s Playgroup, Little Miracles Charity, Support to Shine CIC, Sutton-based dementia support group APPA (Assisting Personally with your Personal Assistance), Open Door 1 dementia support, New Cross Community Church, John Eastwood Hospice, Sutton Youth Radio, and Let’s All Eat.

The awards were made at a club meeting, where representatives of many of the recipients were present.

Most of the money came from funds raised by the Rotary Santa’s Sleigh collections in December, with the club agreeing to top up the donations from its reserves.

Applications for the 2026 Community Action Fund will open in January. For further details follow the club on Facebook (RotarySuttonInAshfield) or go to www.sina-rotary.org.uk nearer the time for further details.

Karen added: “We are always looking for new member, so if you would like to find out more about Rotary and what we do, please contact us by email on [email protected] or via our Facebook page.”
