Flying the flag for green spaces across Ashfield

Posted onPosted on 30th Oct

Six parks run by Ashfield District Council — Brierley Forest Park and Sutto Lawn; Kirkby’s Kingsway Park and Portland Park; Selston Country Park; and Titchfield Park, Hucknall — have received the Green Flag Award 2020.

The Green Flag was raised at each park respectively by council leader Coun Jason Zadrozny and chairman Coun Andy Meakin, together with other councillors and community members.

The Green Flag scheme recognises well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the UK.

Coun Zadrozny said “We have invested heavily into our parks and green spaces to ensure that they are places that can be enjoyed by everyone.

“During the pandemic, our parks have proven to be popular with our residents as a place to escape the stress and to enjoy connecting with nature.

“This year in particular people have seen the value of having great quality green spaces on their doorstep.

“We are proud of the hard work that our teams have put into maintaining our parks to such a high standard that they are nationally recognized as being some of the best parks in the country.”
