Find out about Brexit plea to Mansfield businesses

Posted onPosted on 6th Feb

Businesses in Mansfield and Ashfield are being encouraged to find out more about how Brexit might affect them.

Invest Ashfield & Mansfield (IAM), the shared regeneration service for Mansfield and Ashfield District Councils, is holding a free information event in partnership with leading regional business support organisations East Midlands Chamber of Commerce and D2N2 Growth HUB.

Places at the free conference, from 8:30am to 11:30am at the Summit Centre in Kirkby, on Tuesday, 26th February, are limited and on a first-come-first-served basis. Priority will be given to organisations based in either Ashfield or Mansfield.

Executive Mayor of Mansfield Kate Allsop, who will be opening the event with Coun Jason Zadrozny, leader of Ashfield District Council, said: “The UK leaving the European Union will create both challenges and opportunities for organisations of all sizes.

“Local businesses need to be prepared and this event will help them understand the latest implications and develop Brexit strategies.”

Cllr Zadrozny said: “It is important that local businesses are aware how Brexit may affect them. These are challenging times and we want to ensure that businesses have the opportunity to come and ask questions and feel confident and prepared post-Brexit.”

Presentations by legal and council representatives, will look at Brexit support services, changes to international trade and to immigration law, tax and VAT after Brexit.

There will also be a chance to network and share best practice, and to “ask the expert” about how best to prepare and protect businesses in relation to the impact of Brexit.

A range of support agencies will be on hand, including the D2N2 Growth Hub, which will be taking bookings for one-to-one follow-up Brexit Support Clinics.
