Christmas market is back with variety of festive stalls

Posted onPosted on 18th Oct

Planning for Mansfield town centre’s I Love Mansfield Christmas Market is well under way, with just a couple of chalets left to fill.

The market is due to run between Saturday, 27th November and Wednesday, 22nd December. It will be open daily, from 10am to 5pm on Mondays to Saturdays, and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

There are also plans for the market, which is being organised by Mansfield BID with support from funding partner Mansfield District Council, to be open late on the first three Thursday evenings in December, with an additional evening market on the Market Place to enhance the Christmas offering.

Sue Rogers, from Mansfield BID, is coordinating the setting up of the market, and already has a number of stallholders lined up.

Situated along West Gate, the market will sell items such as homemade candles, jewellery, toys, ornaments, sweets, metal signs, cheeses, wine and mulled wine, hot chocolate and waffles.

There will also be live entertainment, Christmas activities and freebies available too, including carrots for Rudolph and his reindeers, courtesy of Troops Fruit & Veg on Rock Valley.

Sue said: “It’s great to be organising the festive market again, although we know that our planning may have to change if Covid restrictions alter.

“We only have a couple of chalets left to fill but we have had a lot of interest so it really should be a great opportunity to pop into town to pick up Christmas gifts.”

Coun Stuart Richardson, portfolio holder for regeneration and growth at the district council, added: “The festive shopping season in Mansfield is going to be a real Christmas cracker this year.

“The market is just one of many exciting attractions the council is promoting and supporting to entice more visitors to the town centre in the run-up to Christmas.

“Keep an eye on our social media and on our website, www.mansfield.gov.uk/events, for details of what’s coming up.”

Many of the town centre businesses, including the Four Seasons Shopping Centre, will be open late every Thursday in December.

Anyone who wants to enquire about having a chalet for the whole duration of the market, or just for certain weeks, should email [email protected].
