A new local group aims to preserve and celebrate Mansfield Cemetery.
Friends of Mansfield Cemetery will be hosting its first event in June, an open day at the cemetery, aiming to enable the public to explore the history of the cemetery and to find out what the group is about.
The free open day will be on Saturday, 7th June, from 10am to 3pm.
A spokesperson said: “Why not come and explore the history of the cemetery and see what Friends of Mansfield Cemetery is about.”
Refreshments will be available together with limited parking.
The friends group has produced a printed guide to Mansfield Cemetery thanks to help from the Mansfield Mayor’s 500 Grant Fund.
The leaflet, which will be distributed across Mansfield, contains a brief history of the cemetery, photographs of its more notable monuments, a sketch map of the cemetery, and details of the aims of the friends.
