Celebrating World Book Day

Posted onPosted on 10th Mar

Staff and learners at Academy Transformation Trust Further Education (ATTFE) celebrated World Book Day throughout last week.

The week started with staff dressing in character for their curriculum meeting and sharing inspirational book quotes.  Learners took part in fun book quizzes and shared their favourite childhood books and book reviews with each other.

Catering and hospitality learners discussed their favourite recipe books and practised cooking dishes from them, whilst creative design learners recreated popular book covers.  The weekly wellbeing activity also focused on the benefits of taking time out to read and get lost in a book.

Katie Barrett, head of learner experience, said: “Reading is so important and something we celebrate and promote every day at ATTFE, and we wanted to dedicate a full week to share and celebrate authors, illustrators, books and the many benefits it has.

“We always love celebrating World Book Day and did not want the fact that we were working remotely to dampen the occasion! Taking time out to read a book is a great way to reduce stress, loneliness and improve sleep and is something that anyone can easily do no matter what age.”
