Celebrating the best in town’s customer service

Posted onPosted on 21st Oct

Town centre businesses in Mansfield deliver exceptional standards of customer care — and that’s official.

Mansfield BID’s sixth annual Customer Service Awards ceremony, held at the town’s Central Library, celebrated the different shops and businesses in Mansfield town centre and the service they provide.

Mansfield BID had partnered with Douglas Stafford Global to offer a mystery shopper service to those who opted to take part.

Each mystery shopper had the same scorecard, and assessed premises on things such as how welcoming people were, how helpful they were and how knowledgeable they were about other parts of the town centre.

The scores were added up and then each business was awarded an appropriate ranking, with platinum being the best, then gold, silver and bronze accolades being available.

Mansfield BID chief executive Nikki Rolls told the awards ceremony that more businesses were taking part each year. In 2019, 104 businesses were involved, compared with 72 the previous year.

She said that 18 locations had retained 100 per cent score, 24 had improved their scores, 11 new locations went straight in at 100 per cent, and “every open location had polite conversation with the mystery shopper”.

Nikki added: “Mansfield has a unique mix of independent retailers and large, well-known high street stores, as well as a vast range of other companies too, such as solicitors and accountants, an estate agents.

“What’s evident from the awards is that the people who work in these businesses deliver exceptional customer service, which is vital when it comes to attracting and retaining visitors to our town centre.

“Not only did the participating businesses get an award, they also got a report from the mystery shopper. This means that they are able to assess what they are doing right, and perhaps what can be further improved upon.”

The customer service awards were sponsored by The Brunts Charity, and a reception was held at the BID’s Regent Street premises following the ceremony.

Rebekah O’Neill, Four Seasons Shopping Centre manager, said: “We are delighted with our success, especially as our own Customer Service Team was awarded the platinum honour for a third year in a row, scoring an incredible audit score of 100 per cent.

“They have worked so hard to deliver an exceptional service for both the centre and general public and they absolutely deserve this recognition.

“It is their experience and quick responses to situations and incidents, as well as their friendly, approachable demeanour, that instills a huge level of confidence in our shoppers.”

Rebekah added “Our success doesn’t end there, as 28 of our retailers were also recognised with accolades, which is a huge achievement.”

Mark Slade, from another platinum winner, Fidler & Pepper Lawyers, said: “We believe in looking after and developing our staff and because we do that, we are able to deliver excellent customer service.”
