Local businesses are being urged to sign up for a new free Community Card initiative that has been launched by Pinewood Properties in Mansfield and surrounding villages to support both the High Street and local firms.

Businesses can showcase their latest discounts and offers on the card, which is being delivered to 25,000 homes — including those with an NG18 postcode.

Pinewood Properties, which has an office in Mansfield, will also be producing a weekly newsletter for householders who register when they receive their free card, allowing businesses to highlight any new deals.

Richard Taylor, one of the owners at Pinewood Properties, said: “One thing myself and the business is passionate about is supporting the High Street and local businesses.

“We believe this is our perfect way to support them. We want to promote businesses through offers and discounts whenever they want to help boost their business.”

As well as highlighting discounts and offers on the dedicated website — www.pinewoodproperties.co.uk/the-community-card — and weekly newsletter, Pinewood is also setting up a local Community Fund to help local projects and worthy causes.

It is pledging £100 into the fund for every property sales instruction it receives in a local area and will invite community groups, projects and charities to apply for funding.

Each Community Card will have a unique number, and will be delivered with a leaflet explaining its purpose and what it supports.

Richard explained how the Community Card could help businesses.

“Perhaps this will be in a particularly quiet period or day that you often experience, or when you have a product that you need to sell quickly, or you want to offer something to introduce new clients to your brand and business,” he said.

“You can promote an offer or discount on a product and service whenever you wish.

“This can be for an hour, day, period of time or ongoing. It is up to you and you can switch these on and off as often as you like.

“As well as putting offers on the website, Pinewood Properties will email people who register with the latest offers and discounts each week. A social media page will also feature any promotions.

The Community Card is free to both householders and businesses.

Richard added: “It is free and we intend it to stay that way, no tricks or catches.

“We are paying for the production of the cards.

“All businesses have to do is let us know if they want to be part of our community and they don’t have to have any offer or discount right now.”

Participating businesses will be given a logo and poster to display in their shop window and can feature their logo on the Community Card website.
