Entries open for Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 Business Awards

Mansfield and Ashfield businesses have been urged to submit entries into the area’s most prestigious awards — with this year seeing a return to a ‘real-life’ glittering event.

Over the years, the annual Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 Awards and ball have become a major part of the local business calendar.

That continued even through the pandemic, with last year’s awards ceremony taking place virtually.

Finalists will be announced on Thursday, 16th July and organisers are hoping this year’s event can take place on Thursday, 30th September at the the John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Nettleworth.

Ella McManus, 2020 operations manager, said: “Without a doubt, the past 15 months have been tough for many of us, with stop-start actions impacting the economy and lockdown challenges forcing almost everyone to work from home.

“We’ve all had to learn to adapt to new ways of working and managing our everyday lives.

“What better way then to recognise how we have all weathered the storm than with a celebration of all of our great businesses across the Mansfield and Ashfield areas.

“What’s more, you don’t even have to be a member of 2020 to submit an awards entry. We truly are wanting to celebrate local businesses and people.”

Scott Marsh, co-founder with Paul Pitchford of Mansfield Woodhouse-based Your Home Care, said: “We’re a new company with a lot of ambition and we are already setting the standards for home care in north Nottinghamshire.

“We will be entering the awards, particularly as we think we are a unique business with an approach that no-one can match.”

There are nine categories and judges will particularly be looking at how businesses have adapted in the face of the challenges posed by the pandemic.

R.E.A.L. Education is a previous winner of the Business of the Year award. Richard Smith, joint managing director and co-founder, said: “The whole experience of winning was absolutely fantastic for everyone at R.E.A.L.

“To be credited with the award on our 10-year anniversary made it extra special and was a reflection of the impact our team is having on young people’s lives.”
