Creative agency triples headcount and turnover in record year

Huthwaite-based creative agency CCM Group has tripled its turnover and headcount, relocated to larger premises, been listed as a finalist for six business awards, restructured for future growth and is revealing its new business venture for 2021.

CCM Group experienced vast growth and tremendous success over the past year, resulting in record-breaking results — nothing like the business had experienced before.

For the group’s financial year ending February 2021, the company saw a 265% increase in turnover, growing from £2.6m to £9.5m.

It also tripled its employee headcount from 16 to 46 people, creating local job opportunities across the region, with vacancies still live.

CCM’s commitment to investing in its people and a swift decision to transform the business direction back in April 2020 led to a successful company-wide restructure and relocation to its three-storey 1,115sqm building, including a 650sqm warehouse, in Huthwaite — a space that will allow for further growth across all areas of the business.

As part of the restructure, the business divided the group into three clear divisions — CCM Creative, CCM Products and a B2C division, focused on the development of successful e-commerce brands, the most current being Trusted PPE, with the next consumer facing brand, REEL, an eco-friendly electric scooter brand, set to launch for pre-sale during the second half of the year.

Trent Peek, group director at CCM, explained: “In March 2020, we celebrated the start of our new financial year with a team away-day, setting some pretty ambitious targets and goals, only to find a week later that we’d be launched into a nationwide lockdown.

“I was determined to not let this be the end of our exciting growth plans, hence making the brave decision to completely revolutionise our business model, a change that soon became the driving force behind what has been CCM’s most monumental year ever, with so much more to come.”

As well as the business awards nominations, Trent was named an Inspiring Leader by globally-recognised organisation, Inspiring Workplaces.

Since January 2021, CCM Group has placed its sustainability and wellbeing strategies at the forefront of its focus— working in partnership with Ecologi to plant thousands of trees and support UK carbon reduction projects, as well as introducing a fleet of electric company cars.

Head of people Chelsea Peek has launched a new wellbeing strategy for the business, implementing various staff benefits, incentives and initiatives, designed to support workplace wellbeing and people development.

“After a rollercoaster of a year, experiencing numerous lockdowns, transitioning into the world of working from home, isolation periods and many new faces within our team, I knew it was crucial for us to make the necessary changes to protect the wellbeing of our people,” she said.

“The topic of mental health is more poignant than ever, and it is essential for employees to feel valued, supported and empowered, hence the focus of my new role and the many initiatives I am rolling out across the business.”
