The 2014 Careers and Apprenticeship Fair hosted by the Mansfield Learning Partnership and supported by the National Careers Service saw hundreds of young people meet potential employers and learn about career choices.
Businesses from a variety of sectors, including engineering, construction and design and print, joined schools and colleges to promote training opportunities and careers.
Berni Dickinson, director of the Mansfield Learning Partnership, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our young people to meet and talk to people who have worked in industry to see what skills they would need to follow the same career path.
“Many youngsters are only aware of the jobs their family has, so it’s a great experience for them to have and could be the spark that sends them on a bright future.”
The opening of the event saw three businesses awarded their Career Champions status. By becoming a Career Champion they have pledged to undertake at least one activity each academic year that will support the employability skills of students within the Mansfield Learning Partnership.
