BBC Introducing gig set to showcase best of Mansfield talent

The newest music venue in Nottingham, Metronome, will play host to this year’s BBC Introducing gig on Thursday, 27th June – showcasing some of the best new talent from across the county, including new acts signed to the Mansfield-based Inspire Youth Arts First Light record label.

Partner and host for the evening is BBC’s Dean Jackson, an advocate for under the radar local music and introducing the best of the undiscovered.

The line-up for the evening includes The Mighty Creatives Emerging Artist of the Year Jess Fisher – a member of the Able Orchestra who performs using a wheelchair motion controller hooked up to specially developed software to enable her to create music via iPad and laptop.

Remy has been shortlisted for the final of Future Sound of Nottingham (FSN) at Rock City in July with the chance to play at this year’s Splendour Festival if he wins. Remy won the 2018 Notts Factor and performed at last year’s BBC Introducing gig at the Rescue Rooms.

The line-up is completed by other First Light acts, Emily Makis, along with Betsey and Alfie Sharp, both with their bands, plus emerging talents from the First Light Introducing strand, Sam Barker & Margarita, plus the talented urban music ensemble from CRS.

The BBC Introducing gig is being organised by Inspire Youth Arts and is part of its annual music, film, dance and drama extravaganza, TOLFest19, which features performances from young people across the county of various abilities and experience.

Tickets to the BBC Introducing gig are £4 (with £3 concession tickets available) and can be booked online on via the Facebook event

The Inspire Youth Arts is based at the Old Library on Leeming Street, Mansfield and offers opportunities for young people to take part in arts projects and programmes in music, dance and digital. It is part of Inspire, which delivers culture, learning and libraries on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council. For more information check out www.inspireculutre.org.uk/iya
