Armistice Day honoured by hundreds at West Nottinghamshire College

Hundreds of staff and students attended an Armistice Day service on Mondayat West Nottinghamshire College’s Derby Road campus in Mansfield.

Principal and chief executive Andrew Cropley opened the ceremony, welcoming everyone to the service and thanking them for their support in remembering those who fought and fell in the First and Second World Wars and all other conflicts.

Level 3 Public Services students Georgia Geere and Bailey Simmons read poems – Forgotten Voices by The Hale Family and In Flanders Fields, respectively.

Attendees listened to a bugle playing of The Last Post and watched some of the footage from the Remembrance Parade at The Cenotaph in London, on the BBC on Sunday, before honouring the two minutes’ silence.
