Alcohol support service here to help

Posted onPosted on 3rd Jul

A service set up to help people with concerns over alcohol misuse during the coronavirus crisis has adapted its services.

Commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council’s public health department, Change Grow Live offers telephone and online support for people who are worried that their alcohol use may be harmful.

People concerned about their own or someone else’s drinking can get immediate advice and information and start accessing support without having to break social distancing guidelines.

Minesh Patel, head of services at Change Grow Live Nottinghamshire, said: “Our services are more important than ever for people who may be drinking more than usual since lockdown began, especially those turning to alcohol to cope with isolation and the stresses of living in this changed environment.

“Anyone who is worried about their alcohol use can talk to us online or over the phone and quickly get help and support to address their concerns and improve their health and wellbeing.”

Jonathan Gribbin, director of public health at Nottinghamshire County Council, added: “We are pleased to strengthen our service for Nottinghamshire county residents who can now also access support from Change Grow Live via the telephone or online.”

Anyone who needs support and advice about alcohol problems can phone Change Grow Live on 0115 896 0798 to speak to a qualified recovery worker about the best approach for their needs or access online support.
