£7m help for school repairs

Schools across Nottinghamshire will benefit from a £7m investment for maintenance and health and safety improvements.
The funding has been approved by Nottinghamshire County Council as part of its Schools Building Improvement Programme.

Abbey Hill Primary School, Mansfield; Sutton’s Hillocks Primary and Healdswood Infant schools; Kingsway Primary, Kirkby; Northfield Primary and Nettleworth Infant schools, Mansfield Woodhouse; Church Vale Primary, Church Warsop; and Farmilo Primary, Pleasley; are among those to see work.

It includes work work to biomass boilers, kitchen ventilation, boiler and heating pipework replacement, heating cabinet replacements, drainage and roofing.

Coun Philip Owen, chairman of the children and young people’s committee, said: “It is vital we carry out health and safety and maintenance work at schools to avoid risk of closure.”

“These works will be carried out at a number of schools where other major works are planned, thereby maximising investment while saving on project costs and minimising disruption.”
