Life’s a game at college theatre

Posted onPosted on 5th Sep

A play that explores ideas about aspiration and voyeurism is coming to West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre in Mansfield this month.

Game, written by Mike Bartlett, is a modern, contemporary play set in the near future, produced by ‘Something Theatre’. It will take the audience through a brand new gaming experience, at the Derby Road-based theatre for three performances.

The first show will be on Thursday 14 September, followed by Friday 15 September and the final show on Saturday, 23 September – all from 8pm.

It’s about a young couple trying to create a home amidst a housing crisis. When offered the house of their dreams, a moral and ethical dilemma unfolds as the couple discover how far they are willing to go to retain it.

The play’s action takes place in two adjacent, interrelated spaces. The house, where the young couple Carly and Ashley live, and the hides, where David, an ex-soldier supervises punters paying £500 a go to fire tranquiliser shots at the occupants of the house.

As the stakes are raised, Carly and Ashley find they can no longer enjoy privacy and even their nine-year-old son Liam is a target.

Tickets for the show cost £10 per person or £5 for students and can be purchased by visiting www.createtheatre.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01623 413363.
