Half-term fun for in Mansfield

Families looking for ways to keep youngsters entertained during the half term holiday next week will find plenty going on in Mansfield.

Activities include a family fun day at Mansfield Market and various sports sessions for children of all ages. At Mansfield Museum there will be a series of space-themed arts and craft activities for children aged up to 14.

There will be full details about half-term events in Mansfield District Council’s What’s On Guide, which will be posted on the council website next week.

Among the events coming up during half-term will be:

Saturday 28 May: Family Fun Day at Mansfield Market. As part of Love Your Local Market fortnight, there will be a world class Covent Garden Entertainer, an escapologist called A J James, live performances and maypole dancing workshop.

There will also be free face painting and a chance to meet some furry friends from White Post Farm. Plus, pick up a quiz sheet from traders for your chance to win £20 to spend on Mansfield Market.

Tuesday 31 May: Superstars fun session at Oak Tree Leisure Centre, from 9am to 10.55am, £2 per child, no need to book, suitable for ages 5 to 12 years. For more information call 0345 0000 231

Free ‘Craft bomb’ activity at Mansfield Library, from 1pm to 3pm, suitable for all ages, no need to book. Make colourful flowers to decorate the library and make one to take home.

Wednesday 1 June: Artbeat! Design your own space helmet at Mansfield Museum, from 10am to 1pm, £1.50, suitable for ages 14 and under. Children must be supervised by an adult. Please wear appropriate clothing. Booking required for groups over 10, call 01623 463088

Mansfield Town football camp at River Maun Recreation Centre, from 1.30pm to 3pm, £2.10, suitable for ages 5 to 12 years. Booking required, please call 01623 626353.

Thursday 2 June: The Chris & Pui Show at Mansfield Palace Theatre, 11am and 2pm. Cbeebies’ favourite double act in their new stage show with songs, comedy sketches, magic and heaps of joining in – the perfect family show! Suitable for ages 2 years and over. Personal survival session at the Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre, from 9.30am to 10.30am, £4.20, suitable for ages 6 years and over. Booking required, call 0345 0000 230.

Friday 3 June: Free sports taster session at Mansfield Museum from 1pm to 3pm, suitable for ages 14 and under. Enjoy a variety of sports taster sessions with qualified sports activators from Mansfield District Leisure Trust. Children must be supervised by an adult. Please wear appropriate clothing. Wave rave, DJ special at the Water Meadows, from 7pm to 9pm. Children £4, adults £5, suitable for the whole family, No need to book.

Saturday 4 June: No strings junior badminton at Oak Tree Leisure Centre, from 9am to 11am, £3.60, suitable for ages 6 years and over, no need to book.

Sunday 5 June: Free summer brass band concert at Carr Bank Park, from 2pm to 4pm, suitable for all the family. Rally up the family, bring a picnic and enjoy an afternoon of live music with Pleasley Colliery Band at the bandstand.
