Guide to summer fun in Mansfield

Mansfield District Council has compiled a What’s On guide to keep families informed about free and low cost things to do this summer.

Activities include three Summer Festivals on Mansfield parks for children and families, including sports sessions and craft activities, pony rides and live music.

There will also be a whole host of have a go craft workshops throughout the summer at Mansfield Museum including Lego day and tropical cookery sessions.

The museum’s Castaway Cove exhibition is another exciting way to spend a day out from 9 July to 3 September, where families can indulge in a desert island chill-out scene complete with real sand.

Full details about summer events are now available online at www.mansfield.gov.uk/whatson with hard copies being distributed over the coming weeks to homes in the Mansfield District in the My Mansfield publication.

Among the events coming up during the holidays will be:

Tuesdays from 26 July: Buzzy B Club at Four Seasons Shopping Centre. Enjoy free sporting fun workshops and get into the Rio spirit. Medals can be won.

Friday 5 August: Join in the Rio carnival beach party at Mansfield Museum from 10am to 1pm for a morning of crafts, sports taster sessions and games provided by Mansfield District Leisure Trust.

From Monday 1 to Saturday 27 August: No need to travel far to the beach this summer… The beach returns to Mansfield Market every day this summer from 10am to 4pm. Buckets and spades at the ready.

Martyn Saxton, Mansfield District Council’s Director for Place and Well-Being, said: “There are events for all ages happening in Mansfield during the summer holidays so it will be a great time to get out of the house with the kids and check out what the district has to offer!”
