Get Up And Go: Mansfield and Ashfield events for the over-50s

Six events are being held in Mansfield and Ashfield to encourage people to ‘Get Up And Go’ as part of National Older People’s Day on 1st October.

Nottinghamshire County Council is working with partners to offer the sessions that will give older people the chance to try out tai chi, chair-based exercise classes, get healthy living advice and vital home safety tips.

The events will take place on:

• 25 September (9.30am – 1pm) at Oak Tree Leisure Centre, Jubilee Way South, Mansfield, NG18 3RT
• 26 September (10.30am – 1pm) at Ladybrook Library, 171 Ladybrook Lane, Mansfield, NG18 5JR
• 27 September (10am – 3.30pm) at Ashfield Health and Wellbeing Centre, Portland Street, Kirkby, NG17 7AE
• 4 October (2pm – 4pm) at Ladybrook Community Centre, Ladybrook Lane, Mansfield, NG18 5JJ
• 5 October (10am – 3pm) at King’s Mill Hospital foyer, Mansfield Road, Sutton, NG17 4JL

Councillor Stuart Wallace, chairman of the Adult Social Care and Public Health Committee, said: “By keeping active and making simple lifestyle changes, people can make a positive difference and help to stay fit and well for longer. We hope that these events will encourage local people to try out new activities and meet new people.”
