Festival of Folklore and Archaeology

Creswell Crags is hosting its first Festival of Archaeology and Folklore, in conjunction with the official nationwide Festival of Archaeology, on Saturday 29th July.

Co-ordinated by the Council for British Archaeology, the festival offers hundreds of events nationwide, organised by museums, heritage organisations, national and country parks, universities, local societies, and community archaeologists.

Creswell Crags will offer a fun-filled day of events and entertainment suitable for all ages, from sword-throwing demonstrations to traditional crafts using wool and wood.

A new craft marquee, which was purchased just last month with a grant from Bolsover Rotary Club, will make its debut on the meadow, and will be filled with crafters with handmade items to sell.

Forrester Bushcraft will also be on site, a popular survival skills expert. They will be making nettle tea and showing visitors how to survive in the wilderness.

There will be an artefact tent with handling collections.
