Toy sale boost for school’s playground

Berry Hill Primary School, Mansfield, raised £365 towards buying playground equipment through a toy tombola and raffle.

The school council had been challenged to raise money by extended services co-ordinator, Corinna Brown.
Pupils donated toys they no longer played with for the tombola.

Local businesses also helped after being contacted by the school council.

TTS Ltd donated a robot that helps children understand about computer programming, the Beales store donated a remote-control helicopter, and Jango’s indoor play centre gave free entry passes. Tesco’s two Mansfield stores and Morrisons donated items.

Maria McIntyre, teacher and school council leader, said: “The children are excited about the amount of money they have raised. We tried to organise something different that showed our children were making an effort to improve their own playground.

“The school council worked was pleased with the support from the local and school community. We cannot thank the local businesses enough for their support.”
