Posted onPosted on 13th Jul

If you’ve had outstanding care from a nurse, midwife, therapist, healthcare support worker or student at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who deserves greater recognition, you can still nominate them for the Trust’s annual Chief Nurse Awards – but time is running out.

Nominations for this year’s awards close on Friday, 21st July, and more than 100 nominations have already been made by patients, members of the public and staff, celebrating individuals in a number of different categories.

Outstanding and dedicated staff are being nominated for awards in categories linked to the Trust’s CARE values of:

·Communicating and working together

· Aspiring and improving

· Respectful and caring

· Efficient and safe.

As well as for:

· Health care support worker of the year (healthcare assistant, midwife assistant or assistant therapist)

· Student of the year (student nurse / midwife, therapy student or nurse associate).

In addition, there will be a special award chosen and presented by the Chief Nurse, Suzanne Banks for outstanding contribution to leadership and empowering and inspiring others.

Bereavement midwife Melanie Butcher pictured), who won in the category of respectful and caring at last year’s awards, said:
“Being nominated was a lovely feeling, but winning was just amazing! I felt extremely valued that both staff and women whose babies had died appreciated the help and support that we provided as a team. We work in a profession where working as a team is vital and we very often appreciate the work and skills of others, but it’s lovely to be able to share this appreciation so that everyone can see the great work that is being done across the Trust.”

Nominations can be made via an entry form from the trust website: www.sfh-tr.nhs.uk and follow the link to Chief Nurse Awards.

Completed forms may also be emailed to: [email protected] or posted to Chief Nurse Awards, communications department, Trust HQ, level 1, King’s Mill Hospital, Mansfield Road, Sutton, Nottinghamshire NG17 4JL.

Suzanne Banks, Chief Nurse at Sherwood Forest Hospitals said: “We are immensely proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our nurses, midwives, therapists and health care support workers.

“It is a positive time to celebrate what we as a trust have achieved so far. The awards reflect our new vision of dedicated people delivering outstanding care for our patients and communities.”

Winners will be announced at a special ceremony on 22 August at Kelham House, Newark.
