Students celebrate A-Level results at Queen Elizabeth’s Academy

Queen Elizabeth’s Academy, part of the Diverse Academies Learning Partnership, is celebrating the success of its post-16 students as they received their A-Level results.

Jessica Williams achieved a distinction* in business, double distinction* in health, distinction in childcare and is going on to study a degree in health and social care at Bishop Grossteste University, Lincoln.

Jessica said: “It has been a nerve wracking wait for the results, but I’m really pleased with my grades and excited about starting university. I have made some great friends at Queen Elizabeth’s and the staff have supported me all the way – I could not have done it without them.”

Rusni Begum was also celebrating following exam result successes in level 3 business and is now going on to a business and marketing apprenticeship at Vison West Nottinghamshire College, Mansfield.

Rusni said: “I’m so pleased the hard work has paid off. The exams were really tough – you think you’ve done enough, but you just don’t know. I’m really looking forward to my apprenticeship – something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Overall, the number of students gaining A*-B grades at the academy has remained consistent, with an improving number also achieving a distinction* or distinction in vocational qualifications.

Many of the academy’s students also attained the grades required to go on to university, while others have chosen different pathways and will move into employment and apprenticeships as a direct result of their accomplishments.

Helena Brothwell, principal, said: “I am proud of our students’ hard work and dedication during what is an intense, busy exam period. There have been some great individual successes to celebrate – achievements our students should be really proud of too.

“They have shown grit and resilience throughout their time in sixth form, life skills which will stand them in good stead whether they go on to university, further training or into employment. Our post-16 students are role models for our academy and so I look forward to them returning to Queen Elizabeth’s to share their insights with others in the near future.”

From September, students will access their post-16 studies at Hucknall Sixth Form Centre alongside peers from National Church of England Academy and Holgate Academy, both of whom are part of Diverse Academies.

Helena added: “Those individuals studying at Hucknall will benefit from access to over 35 courses within a purpose-designed sixth-form, delivered by subject experts from three partner academies.

“This development will really benefit all students looking to study towards A Levels and vocational courses. We are excited for the future and look forward to seeing the positive outcomes from this partnership.”

The academy invites any students yet to secure a place with a post 16 provider for this September or is considering their post-GCSE options to visit www.queenelizabeths-ac.org.uk or email [email protected] for more information.
