Still time to join Mansfield’s big race

Posted onPosted on 11th Aug

The introduction of a new 5K route means that more runners of all abilities are signing up to take part in this year’s Mansfield 10K.

The event, which takes place on the morning of Sunday, 17th September, will see runners take to the streets of Mansfield on a traffic-free route around the town.

Joining them will be Lorraine Harvey, a Reach Learning Disability client who regularly attends sessions at Reach Newark.

Lorraine enjoys running and is taking on the Mansfield 5K in a bid to get healthier.

“I did the 5K Cancer Research run on the Nottingham Embankment, and I sometimes do the Newark Park Run when I am not working at Rumbles,” she said. “I want to do the Mansfield 5K to get healthy.”

Reach works in partnership with Mansfield District Council, event management company Perfect Motion and sponsors, including the main event sponsor McDonald’s, to organise the event, which raises funds to help Reach continue its work with people with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire.

This year’s other sponsors are Slimming World, Virtual Runner, The Nottingham and Full Phat Design.

If you would like to join Lorraine and hundreds of other runners taking part in the Mansfield 5k & 10K, you can sign up online at www.mansfield10k.co.uk

Keen runners who are not able to get to Mansfield can join in the fun via the Virtual Runner website. Simply register online at www.virtualrunneruk.com and complete your 5K or 10K run or walk between the 17th and 30th September to receive your medal.
