Stags chief sleeping rough to help homeless

Mansfield Town’s chief executive officer Carolyn Radford is set to spend a night in a cardboard box when she sleeps rough next month to highlight and raise funds for homelessness.

Mrs Radford will join business people from other companies by sleeping overnight with only a sleeping bag and a cardboard box at Notts County’s Meadow Lane Stadium.

She is attempting to raise over £1,000 to fight homelessness and poverty.

Ahead of the charity sleep out on Thursday, 13 October, Mrs Radford said: “I am expecting the experience to give us only a snapshot of what homeless people in Nottinghamshire have to go through every night.

“We never know what other people have been through in their lives and how circumstances have affected them.

“I feel that as a society we could show more compassion and understanding to help us eradicate homelessness and try and help people to have a basic right – a place of shelter and warmth.

“Sacrificing just one night to try and help those who have to go through this every day is the least I can do.

“I would appeal to the generous people of Mansfield and Nottinghamshire to donate whatever they can to help give our people a better quality of life.”
