Why sponsor is backing Mansfield 10k

Mansfield McDonald’s franchisee Jacqui Moore has become the main sponsor for this year’s Mansfield 10k through her personal links to Reach Learning Disability.

Jacqui’s son Calum, 24, who has attended Reach for the last four years, has a condition called Fragile X syndrome, which results in a spectrum of intellectual disabilities and behavioural characteristics.

He lives with four other adults with learning difficulties where they receive 24-hour care.

Jacqui said: “Calum is very able in lots of ways, but in many ways he needs support. He absolutely adores going to Reach, especially the singing and art classes. Everyone needs friends in their lives, adults with learning difficulties included, and Reach gives them just that.

“Calum gets beside himself with excitement and the sessions give him a reason to get up in the morning.”

The event is becoming something of a family affair for the Moore family, with Jacqui’s 19-year-old daughter, Daisy, taking part to support Reach. Staff from Jacqui’s McDonalds stores will also join in the 10k run alongside hundreds of others.

The Mansfield 10k takes place on Sunday 21st August 2016, and there are a limited number of places for this year’s event. With places running out quickly, we advise booking your place in the event sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
