Sign up for the Mansfield 10K

The charity behind the Mansfield 10K is appealing for runners to sign up to the popular annual event.

The race, on 16th September, has routes over 5k and 10k. Medals will be given to participants.

Sarah Cobb, fundraising officer at Reach Learning Disability, said: “Following on from the success of last year’s sell-out event, we are confident we can once again fill the streets of Mansfield.

“The event creates a warm community spirit in the town centre, with support from spectators and local businesses.

“We want to thank everyone who gets involved in the race, which raises money for Reach, a charity local to Mansfield with a base in the town centre.”

Reach, which has bases in Mansfield, Newark, Southwell, as well as horticultural social enterprise, Flower Pod, supports 200 adults with learning disabilities.

Money raised from the event will help the charity continue to run courses, social activities, day trips and holidays for clients.

Prices for the 10k route for affiliated runners is £14, £16 for non-affiliated runners.

For the 5k, runners aged 16 and over will be charged £12 and junior runners, aged between 12 and 16, £8. To enter visit www.mansfield10k.co.uk

Steve Shatwell, Reach chief executive, said: “For the event to be a sell-out (last year) just shows what a special place Mansfield is.

“At a time when road races across the UK are struggling to survive, the Mansfield 10K bucks the trend.

“The fact that we close town centre roads for the race means that the 10K is a real community event, supported by local people and showing off the town at its very best.”

The main sponsor for 2018 is Mansfield District Council, with Slimming World, The Nottingham Building Society, and Full Phat Design also providing support.
