Chance to have a go at tennis for free

Mansfield District Leisure Trust is again offering free activities as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend.

Following on from last year’s success, where just under 100 people took part in the weekend, the trust will be at Meden Sports Centre, Warsop, on 22nd July, and Racecourse Park, Mansfield, the following day, offering free activities, including equipment, which are suitable for all ages.

To find out more about the event, visit: https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/OpenDays

The trust also offers weekly sessions for those looking to play tennis regularly. All sessions are run by qualified coaches and are a part of the Sport England-funded Community Sports Project.

They include short tennis coaching for all ages on Tuesdays at Meden Sports Centre at 4.45pm, for under-12s, and 5.15pm for those aged 12 and over, including adults.

Meden also runs a social pay-and-play tennis club on Tuesdays, from 6-8pm, for £2 per person, including the hire of equipment.

The trust has taken short tennis sessions to community venues, including Mansfield Museum, Ladybrook Community Centre, Mansfield, and various schools.

Any groups or workplaces wanting to try a free session should contact Carolyn Hallam on 07718 194711 or [email protected]

Mansfield District Leisure Trust is looking for new trustees, who should have a passion for sport and recreation and, ideally, experience in management, finance, strategy or marketing. The trust meets up to 10 times a year on midweek afternoons at one of the leisure centres in Mansfield. Contact [email protected] for an application form.
