Rotary support for Creswell Craggs

Creswell Crags, governed by the charity Creswell Heritage Trust, has received a grant of £500 from Bolsover Rotary Club, to be used towards a large event marquee.

Paul Baker, director of Creswell Heritage Trust, said: “We are extremely grateful for this sizeable donation towards our much-needed marquee. Having a marquee of this size will mean that we can put on more outdoor events without worrying about things like the rain as much. We have lots of plans for the future and having this will be a great asset to our offering.”

The events team at Creswell Crags has plans for the marquee already, as it prepares for an antique evaluation day with TV favourite Charles Hanson, who will be at the Crags on Friday, 7th July, from 11am, to value antiques and collectibles. This event will now be held outside in the new marquee and people can just turn up on the day, there is no need to book. A donation of £3 is requested as a valuation fee.

The marquee will also be used to house stallholders on Saturday, 29th July for the Crags big event of the year – Mother Grundy’s Festival of Folklore and Archaeology. There will ancient crafts to try, stalls, bush craft and survival skill demonstrations, an artefact tent with real animals’ skulls to look at, a bouncy castle and much more. The event is free, £3 parking.

David Coupe, Youth and Communities Chair of Bolsover Rotary Club, said: “We would like to thank the team at Creswell Heritage Trust for all the great work they are doing at Creswell Crags at the moment and we are very pleased to be able to help them in this way. We hope the marquee will be a great asset to their events and we are pleased it is going to get used straight away.”
