Reaching out to help

Posted onPosted on 6th Dec

A charity that supports more than 200 people with learning disabilities, including many at its day centre at St John’s Centre, Mansfield, raised more than £22,200 through a Double Donation campaign.

For every £10 donated to Reach Learning Disability in the first three days of December, the charity received £20.

This ‘double-every-donation’ opportunity was possible because Reach secured promises that every pound donated during the campaign would be matched.

Sarah Cobb, Reach fundraising officer, said: “We had to work hard and we received lots of support from the local community.
Reach Mansfield held a successful auction. NTU Brackenhurst raised more than £700 by hosting a chocolate raffle, onesie day, craft workshop, bake off and a 5k walk/jog run (above). Reach Newark held a superheroes day.

More than £1,500 was donated from a party held by a supporter. People and businesses also donated.

A spokesman for Reach said: “Reach says a huge thank-you to those who made pledges as well as everyone who donated. They could not have done it without this valuable support and without the donations, the services Reach offer would not be possible.”

“This campaign money will enable us to reach more people with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire.”
